Some Comics You Should be Reading, but Probably Aren’t Part 3

This book is written by Carey Malloy and the artist is Scott Godlewski, I have never heard of either of these individuals, but I really enjoy the artists work on this book. I think he has some potential to do more stuff and I hope he shows up is some more comics soon. This title is from Boom! Studios is a four issue mini-series and all four issues have come out now. The book is about a group of FBI agents that decipher codes used by drug trafficking cartels. The book focuses on four main agents that work in the same office. These agents are Stan, Malcolm, Lindsay and Donald. They are all code breakers and writers except for Lindsay who has a great ability to read people to an extraordinary degree. The premise for the book is that Stan gets a code to decipher one day at work and that very night after work he commits suicide by jumping off a bridge. The rest of his co-workers don’t believe that he would do this and believe that it has something to do with the code. This story twists and turns throughout and is really interesting and I never saw the ending coming. I don’t’ want to give to much away because it would ruin the ending. The characters are really likeable and are written very well. This story is a very engrossing read and I think would work well as a movie or TV series. I highly recommend you try and track down the series or get the trade when it comes out.
2. Welcome to Tranquility: One foot in the Grave

This book is written by the amazing Gail Simone and the artist is Horacio Domingues. This a follow up series to the first series that came out in 2007 and ran for 12 issues. It was by far one of the best things that Wildstorm did when it relaunched back then. The basic premise for the series is that Tranquility is a retirement community for superheroes. The characters in this series make it so good, some are so funny, others are so serious and some are just downright absurd. This series is following up on Simone’s first arc from the book, which was the murder of superhero Mr. Articulate and the whole town was up in arms about who committed this grave murder. The killer turned out to be Mayor Fury, or so we were thought to believe. This series is taking that thought and turning upside down. The issue starts out with Mayor Fury being released from prison and the sheriff who brought him in taking him to his celebration of being released. The sheriff whose name is Tommy is not happy with him being released at all and makes her thoughts well known to him. Then some mysterious force crashes the cop car and pulls the mayor out of the car, all we see is a shadowy figure. Then the book throws at us a even more interesting hook when at the very end of the issue it shows Mr. Articulate show up at the celebration for Mayor Fury. I can’t wait to see where Simone takes this and I have high hopes that will be amazing along the way. I highly recommend reading the first 12 issues of this series, which I’m sure is in trade form. Then start picking up this new series because you won’t be disappointed at all.
